Adding Integers Instructional Video
This instructional video was created as a part of a mathematics eLearning module.
Audience: Virtual learners accessing online course through LMS
Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Design, and Analysis
Tools Used: Quicktime (screencast), iMovie (video-editing), Google Jamboard (whiteboard platform), Edpuzzle (question/response recorder)
Overview
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, education became virtual. Learners accessed all of their course content online and participated in virtual instruction.
This instructional video was made for a learners to access through an LMS as a part of an eLearning module.
Process
I designed this instructional video by using my expertise in Mathematics and simplifying the learning target for the video to adding integers with different signs. I outlined the procedural steps to be taught in the video and created the slides with the problems and a separate answer key for me to work off of.
I screencasted using Quicktime and handwrote on the slides using a Wacom tablet while recording the voiceover live. I then edited the video using iMovie and uploaded the video to Edpuzzle, a video platform that allows questions and answers to be recorded throughout the video.
This video was uploaded to the organization’s LMS for learners to access and watch as a part of the module.
Highlights
I utilized learning theory throughout the creation of the course, including:
Reducing cognitive load by narrowing focus of learning target and simplifying presentation
Clear Learning Objective (Blooms’s Taxonomy)
